Program Description

During the Spring semester, students from all around Houston are invited to participate in six classes held at Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy.  Houston Ballet provides transportation to and from the school free of charge.  Classes are all-inclusive with students actively participating, regardless of physical ability or previous dance experience.  Academy staff, however, does assess students for Houston Ballet Academy's year-round program.  Scholarships and dance wear are offered along with transportation, if needed.  Students are re-evaluated on a year to year basis for scholarship renewal.

Eligibility

Schools with at-risk children, inner-city schools and low income schools without dance programs in place are eligible for this program. The program is offered to a limited number of schools. The dates for the 2008-2009 Chance to Dance program are listed below. To make your school's reservation, please email Houston Ballet's Education and Outreach Department, using the link below.

Series 1: Mondays,
             October 6-November 10, 2008

Series 2: Wednesdays, 
             October 8-November 12, 2008

Series 3: Mondays,
              January 26-March 2, 2009

Series 4: Wednesdays,
              January 28-March 4, 2009

Series 5: Mar. 30-May 4, 2009

Series 6: April 1-May 6, 2009
